Sebagai Saluran Funimation
Funimation Channel started as a syndication block on Colors TV, one of the OlympuSAT affiliate networks. Programs during this era were Dragon Ball , Negima! Kodocha , The Slayers , Blue Gender , Kiddy Class , Built , Closed Cases and Yu Yu Hakusho . The block was then discontinued for a more successful expansion of the digital cable, optical fiber and DBS systems
On May 1, 2008, Funimation Channel became an anime digital cable network dubbed the UK for 24 hours; the second of its kind in North America (following A.D. Vision's Anime Network). Olympusat was selected as the exclusive distributor of Funimation Channel. The service was initially available to multiple cities via UHF digital signals and is temporary when the channel tries to gain a foothold in the overcrowded digital cable landscape.
In May 2009, Funimation Channel continued its expansion at cable launch on Comcast's VOD platform and offered two services - Free On Demand and PPV On Demand. PPV VOD offers viewers the opportunity to watch titles before their DVD releases. Movies and packaged specials are available at $ 2.99 each while episodes are available at $ 0.99 each.
On September 27th, 2010, High Definition feeds were launched with existing VOD services. On February 16, 2012, Verizon announced that it will stop Funimation Channel and Bridges TV from its Verizon FiOS service "on, or after March 15" for "very low impressions". In response to the reaction of Verizon FiOS TV subscribers, FiOS TV returns Funimation Channels via Video on Demand. Channel 262 remains in the FiOS system operated by Frontier Communications in some areas of the former Verizon. Optimum Cablevision TV recently launched FUNimation Channel On Demand in the NY/NJ/CT Tri-State area. Adding this MSO increases the FUNimation Channel's footprint to more than 40 million households nationwide.
Funimation Channel programming comes from Funimation, Viz Media, Nozomi Entertainment, and Central Park Media which is now dead and Enoki Films USA.
