A military front or battlefront is an armed border that is contested between the opposing forces. It can be a local or tactical front, or it can revolve to the theater. The typical front was the Western Front in France and Belgium in World War I.
- The term "front of house" has been used to indicate conditions in the civil sector of a belligerent country, including those involved in the production of matà © à riel.
- Soviet and Polish troops used the term "front" to mean a group of soldiers during the Polish-Soviet and World War II Wars. The equivalent of the term defined in the header is "Theater of military operations".
- The term "frontline of the city" was used by the Germans during their long retreat from Moscow/Stalingrad to refer to metropolitan centers that have been disputed by two combatants. The designation of such cities resulted in administrative changes (mostly the imposition of martial law). In the movie Downfall, the term is briefly referenced.
- The terms "transferred forward" are often used by soldiers or personnel when their positions have been altered from other activities.
