First generation (2003-2015)

The development of Titan began in September 1999, with design work under Diane Allen. Arpenba's TA60 exterior was chosen at the end of 2000, with a final production freeze in July 2001. The language of future truck design is presented by the 2001 T Alpha concept shown at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show, previously developed until November 2000.

Production began on September 21, 2003 and sales on December 1, 2003. Titan uses a new full-size F-Alpha platform. The new platform is shared with SUV Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56, with all three produced in Canton, Mississippi, United States. The first generation Titan continues without major redesign until 2015.

Second Second generation (2016-Now)

The second-generation Titan will be a lightweight and rejuvenated version of the Dodge Ram, but the plan failed with the 2008 global financial crisis.

Nissan launches second-generation Titan at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. The second-generation Titan is designed in California, engineered in Michigan, tested in Arizona, and assembled in Mississippi. V8 Cummins built in Indiana and Tennessee.

Cummins has partnered with Nissan and has announced that the next-generation Titan will offer 310-horsepower (230Ã, kW) Cummins 5.0-liter turbo diesel V8 (after a plan with Dodge falls) that produces nearly 555 pound-feet (752 Ã, N? M)) torque. The engine is referred to as ISV. The engines will be built in Columbus, Indiana, and have different versions of engines for commercial trucks. The 5.6 liter gasoline engine will remain standard. In addition, the gasoline engine has increased power compared to the previous model, producing 390 hp (291 kW) and 394 pound-feet (534 × m) of torque mated to 7-speed automatic.

The second generation Titan is available in two forms, regular and XD, with XD being released for the first sale. The XD version is built on heavy duty chassis based on Nissan's commercial vehicle line and includes the Cummins diesel engine as an option. This platform is shared with Nissan NV.
