The Nissan Z engine is a series of cars and light truck engines engineered by Nissan Machinery, manufactured by Nissan Motor Company from 1979 to August 1989. All Z engines have 4 cylinders, a total of 8 valves and a single overhead camshaft ( SOHC). The displacements range from 1.6Ã, L up to 2.4Ã, L. The Z series engine block is almost identical to that of the previous L Series with the exception of Z24. While the Z16 and Z18 engines have a high deck similar to the previous L13/L14/L16/L18 variant, the Z24 has a higher deck height to accommodate longer strokes. The most striking difference between the Z-series engine and its predecessor is the introduction of a new crossflow cylinder head that reduces emissions by moving the intake port to the right side of the engine across the exhaust port. This change allows the exhaust port speed to more effectively paw the cylinder and reduce the reversal pulse to increase the induction. The Z series evolved into NA and KA engines which, together with smaller CA series, replaced the Z series.

Z16
Z16 made its first appearance in 1978 in the basic version of the new model-Nissan Navara (D21), which has debuted the previous year with the new Z18. Offered only in selected overseas markets, this engine version comes with a single downdraft carburetor. Later it was also seen in some low-end models of Datsun Bluebird 910s for the Japanese domestic market and some Nissan commercial vehicles in single-plug configurations.

Z18 debuted in 1977, the first model of the Z-type engine to be released. Displacing 1.8 L (1,770 cc) with a bore of 85.0 mm and a stroke of 78.0 mm, it is essentially an older L18 type four-cylinder type with a new cross cylinder head. The 1980 carburetor version generates 105 PS (77 kW) @ 6,000 rpm (SAE). The export specification is 77 PS (56.6 kW) which Datsun Ã, à · 180K (C210 Skyline type) @ 5,600 rpm (DIN/net [Note 2]), is 86 PS (63.3 kW) which is from 910-series Bluebird, twin Specification carburetor 910 Bluebird SSS and Sylvia for export is 90-92PS (66.2-67.7Ã, kW). [4] Z18 also commercial vehicles for engines have lineup, per cylinder spark plug one specification plug of cylinder head has been adopted.

Z18E
The Z18E is a fuel injection engine 1.8Ã, L (1.770Ã, cc) manufactured mainly for the Japanese market. Most specifications are the same as Z18, but the maximum power increases to 115 PS (85 kW) (SAE) @ 6,200 rpm in 1980 (Bluebird, Skyline).

Z18ET
The Z18ET is 1.8Ã, L (1.770Ã, cc) turbocharged engine and fuel injection was first introduced in 1979 S110 Silvia/Gazelle. It is manufactured mainly for the Japanese market and produces 135 hp (101 kW).
Aplikasi:
Z20S
The Z20S (S indicates carburetor) is a 2.0A, L (1.952Ã, cc) engine with a bore of 85.0mm and 86.0mm strokes produced from 1979 to 1984. It replaces the L20B while using many of the lower end components are the same.
Application:
In the US, the Z20S is only available on the 1980-81 pickup 510/A10 and 1984 720 with MPG options.
Nissan Caravan or Homys with this engine can reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. They are notorious for being faster than their competitors from Toyota especially because the Z20S engine produces more power than the machines available in the equivalent Hiace.
Z20E
The Z20E is a fuel injection version of the Z20S engine manufactured from 1979 to July 1984. It has longer connecting rods and shorter compression pistos shorter than the 1980-81 Z20S. This produces 100 ps (74 kW). Z20E is not available in 720 pickup, which only uses carburetor version. The Z20 engine is not available at all in US specifications. 720 pickup or California specifications. D21 pickup.
Application:
Z22S
Z22S (carb only) is 2.2Ã, L (2.188Ã, cc) produced from 1980 to early 1983. Bore and stroke are 87.0 and 92.0 mm respectively. It produces 86Ã, hp (64Ã, kW) SAE which is fitted to the Datsun 720 in the US market.
Aplikasi:
Z22E
The Z22E is a fuel injection version of the Z22 engine manufactured from 1981 to 1983, especially for North America. This machine has longer connecting rods and a shorter, higher-compression piston than a Z22S stacked machine.
Application:
Z24
The Z24 is 2.4Ã, à ° L (2.389Ã, cc) generated from 1983 to August 1989. A throttle-body fuel (Z24i) injection version was also produced, beginning in April 1985.
Aplikasi:
various applications of Z24 Forklift in gas and LPG
Note: All USDM Z20, Z22 and Z24 petrol engines are known as NAPS-Z (NAPZ or NAPS-Z Nissan Anti-Pollution System), NAPZ motors have double springs (2 per cylinder) except pre-82 and latest version of Z24i installed on the Pathfinder. All NAPZ machines sold in California are reported to have two head connectors regardless of the year.
The above referenced fuel injection versions are denoted as Z24i (Throttle Body Fuel Injection) and were first available in the Nissan 720 ST model pickup during the 1985 model and were replaced in 1990 by KA24E engines and they share the same bellhousing pattern.. In addition to fuel-injection, significant changes to the Z24i are the addition of optical crank angle sensors in the distributor rather than the forward module and vacuum ignition. This allows the JECS throttle-body injection system to identify the cylinder # 1 top dead center (TDC).
