Communications Frontier Carolina LLC is an operating company created in 2009 when some of Verizon South's assets are split up and sold to Frontier Communications. The company provides local phone service to former Verizon customers (formerly GTE and Contel) in southern Wisconsin, Illinois, South Carolina and North Carolina.
The company was founded in 2009 as New Communications Carolinas, Inc. in preparation for the Verizon South spinoff located outside the state of Virginia and Knotts Island, North Carolina. When the company was acquired by Frontier, it became operator of the former Verizon South track and its name was changed to Frontier Communications from Carolinas, Inc.
The company was converted into a limited liability company in 2013, becoming Frontier Carolina Communications LLC .
