Boynton Beach is a town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population is 68,217 at the 2010 census. By 2017, the city has a population of about 73,992 people according to the University of Florida, Bureau of Economic and Business Research. Boynton Beach is a major city in the Miami metropolitan area, which is home to about 6,012,331 people at the 2015 census.

In 1894, two years before Henry Morrison Flagler built his tracks, a former Civil War general called Nathan Boynton first looked at the area that now uses his name. Boynton comes from Port Huron, Michigan. He was so impressed by the natural beauty of year-round sunshine and pristine beaches, he built the famous Boynton Hotel, where he also spent the winter with his family. The first settlers, brought by Boynton from Michigan, soon realized that many fruits and vegetables thrived on the fertile climate. Pineapples, tomatoes, mangoes, and citrus fruits are packed in crates and delivered by tons on the newly built Florida East Coast Railroad to satisfy the hungry American appetite across the country. Major Boynton died on May 27, 1911 in Port Huron, but the hotel lasted until 1925.
Boynton Beach was founded on September 26, 1898 when Byrd Spilman Dewey and her husband Fred S. Dewey filed an original plate at the Dade County courthouse for Town of Boynton . The city was founded in 1920 as the City of Boynton. The name "Boynton Beach" was first used by a community that broke away from Boynton City in 1931. In 1939, the community changed its name to "Ocean Ridge" while The Town of Boynton took the name "Boynton Beach" in 1941..
In 1926, the Railway Air Line entered into what was then just Boynton, spurring the construction of a land miles inland near the Seaboard station, including the first planned subdivision of the town, Lake Boynton Estates. As the land became more valuable, areas along the Intracoastal and Federal Highway waterways in Boynton also saw housing developments. To the west, many dairy factories were established so that the Boynton area became the premier dairy supplier for Palm Beach County. In the 1970s, dairies were no longer profitable and these lands were also converted into housing.
Boynton Beach Oceanfront Park is located north of the original Boynton Hotel site. In 1921, the City of Boynton acquired a coastal site from Lewis S. Howe by a leading domain for park and recreation purposes. The beachfront casino was built in 1928 and features a large dining room, changing rooms and showers and residents using casinos for parties and social gatherings. The casino was destroyed in 1967 and the property remains a part of the beach park.
From 1920 until now, Boynton Beach Oceanfront Park has been popular among residents and visitors. In the mid-1990s, the park underwent a major renovation in which wood boards were rebuilt from recycled plastics. Boynton Beach's Oceanfront Park was voted the best family beach in Palm Beach County by The Palm Beach Post in 2001. In 2011 the boardwalk was renovated again, replacing plastic with ipe wood (pronounced ee-pay) (commonly known as a Brazilian walnut). In 2012 improvements were made to buildings along the sidewalk, including total toilet restoration.
Hurricane Wilma struck Boynton Beach on October 24, 2005, causing widespread damage to homes and businesses. In 2006, the city government allowed the demolition of the historic Seaboard train station, which survived intact in private hands since passenger service to the station was suspended in 1971.

Crime
2006 saw an increase in gang-related violence crimes. This reflects a similar increase in Palm Beach County. The shooting associated with the gang that resulted in death at the city's popular Boynton Beach Mall on Christmas Eve 2006 drew national attention on many networks, such as CBS. The average household size is 2.26 and the average family size is 2.87.
In 2000, the urban population spread by 19.9% ​​under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 25.8% aged 65 years or older. The median age was 42 years. For every 100 women, there are 87.9 men. For every 100 women age 18 and over, there are 84.5 men.
In 2000, the average income for households in the city was $ 39,845, and the average income for families was $ 47,546. Men have an average income of $ 32,503 compared to $ 26.399 for women. Approximately 7.4% of families and 10.2% of the population are below the poverty line, including 17.9% of those under the age of 18 and 7.2% of those aged 65 years or older.
In 2000, native English speakers accounted for 80.09% of all residents, while French-speaking Creole consists of 7.51%, Spanish at 7.30%, France comprising 1.02%, Italy 0.97%, and Germany comprises 0.87% of the population.
