Pontiac Torrent is an intermediate crossover produced by General Motors for models from 2006 to 2009. Substitute for Aztec, it is a slightly restored version of the first generation Chevrolet Equinox.
Torrent shares its basic and mechanical structure with Equinox. However, Torrent has a different front and rear to visually differentiate it from Equinox. The suspension is also modified to be more toned and sporty, and the electronic power steering is recalibrated to give a firmer and less artificial impression. The Torrent shares 185 hp (138 kW; 188 PS) 3.1 L V6 with 5-Speed ââautomatic transmission Aisin AF33.
Pontiac Torrent was featured as one of the prizes in the reality television series Survivor in 2005 as well as Criss Angel Mindfreak in the same year.

Termination
Pontiac Torrent discontinued after the 2009 model, the last Torrent was launched from the assembly line on September 2, 2009, as a result of the redesigned Chevrolet Equinox for the 2010 model year, and also as a result of General Motors stopping the Pontiac Brand in 2010 as well. Originally a new Buick SUV built on the GM Theta platform will be introduced in 2010 to be used as Torrent's successor, but General Motors decided to replace Torrent with a new GMC SUV built on GM Theta platform called Medan GMC, which went on sale in 2009 for the 2010 model year.
