Food-making , sometimes called editable landscape or front page farming , is a type of landscape where all or the main areas of the lawn are on the property private or sometimes public property is used to grow food. It has been regarded as a hybrid between farming and landscaping in the sense of having "a thorough way to grow a garden, feeding itself, and making it look beautiful" with an "integrative landscape". Grasses and shrubs are replaced with berry bushes or other plants that produce fruits and vegetables that can mean lower bills at a grocery store. In contrast to having a backyard vegetable garden or raised bed for flowers or other enclosed or fenced spaces where fruits and vegetables are grown, foodcaping is more extensive, with "the application of edible food into the landscape."
Instead of just planting bushes, trees, vines, grasses and ground cover, eating activities include the addition of edible plants that add interest, color, texture and, of course, taste.

Recent trends
Foodscaping became more widely practiced in response to high food prices and the economic downturn of 2008. Sometimes it requires planting to take advantage of natural water streams, sometimes called waterscaping.
