Suicide anti-suicide , Ferguson , turtle suit , Jas Bam Bam , or dress suicide , is a highly tear-resistant outer garment commonly used to prevent hospitalized, imprisoned, or other people being held from ropes by suicidal suits. This shirt is usually a simple, strong, non-collar, sleeveless, sleeveless dress with adjustable openings on the shoulders and on the front that is covered with nylon hooks and circles or similar fasteners. The thickness of the garment makes it impossible to roll or fold the garment so it can be used as a snare. This is not a restraint and gives courtesy and warmth when it does not preclude the mobility of the wearer. The lawsuit covers all personal areas as the wearer must be naked under a suit for their own protection.
These items are officially known as Safety Smocks and were designed and developed by Lonna Speer in 1989 when he became a nurse working in Santa Cruz, California, county prison. Safety Smocks is now a standard issue throughout prisons and prisons in the United States. The same material is used for anti-suicide blankets. Prior to using Safety Smock many prisons and prisons stripped the prisoners and held them in layered cells with no furniture or bulges whatsoever. Some facilities choose to use paper clothes to give courtesy. However, inmates were able to make a noose rope from a paper dress in less than 15 seconds, so most institutions no longer use it. The American Correctional Association (ACA) has determined the appropriate use of Safety and Safety Smock as one of the Standards used to assess prisons and prisons for accreditation. The demand for Protective Clothes to meet the ACA Standards has led many clothing makers to create similar clothing with a variety of strengths and materials. In addition to Safety Smock, Lonna Speer developed Safety Blanket and Safe Sleeping Bag, all made of heavy layered nylon material, as well as Dozer, Mattress Suicide Mattress, Safety Pillow, and Safety Sandal.
