Hyatt Hotels Corporation is an American multinational hotel company that manages and franchises luxury hotels, resorts and vacation properties. Hyatt Corporation became available after purchase of Hyatt House, at Los Angeles International Airport, on September 27, 1957. On March 25, 2018, Hyatt has 777 properties in 54 countries. Fortune Hyatt rating magazine # 186 on the "America's Best Employers" list for 2018.

The original owner of the Hyatt House hotel, a luxury hotel located near Los Angeles Airport, is a businessman of Hyatt Robert von Dehn and Jack Dyer Crouch. In 1957, the hotel was bought by businessman Jay Pritzker for $ 2.2 million. His younger brother Donald Pritzker also took an important role in the company. Considering the increasing use of air travel for business, the Pritzker brothers realized that finding a high quality hotel near the main airport was a valuable business strategy. In two years, they opened another Hyatt House hotel near San Francisco Airport and then another near Seattle-Tacoma Airport.
Over the next decade, the acquisition was made, and Hyatt became the fastest growing hotel chain in the United States. Donald died in 1972 and Jay continues to run the company.
In 1969, Hyatt opened its first hotel outside the United States, Hyatt Regency Hong Kong. In 1980, Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt brands were introduced. Hyatt runs a resort hotel, starting with Hyatt Regency Maui in 1980. On November 30, 2015 Hyatt has over 627 hotels worldwide.
In 1972, Hyatt formed Elsinore Corporation, a subsidiary to operate Four Queens Hotel and Casino and Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa & amp; Casino. After Hyatt became a private company in 1979, Elsinore was separated as a public company. The company opened Playboy Hotel and Casino as a joint venture with Playboy Enterprises.
In June 2004, substantially all hotel assets owned by Pritzker's family business interests, including Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation, were consolidated under an entity called Global Hyatt Corp. On June 30, 2009, Global Hyatt Corporation changed its name to Hyatt Hotel Company.
In December 2004, Hyatt Hotels Corporation acquired AmeriSuites, an all-suite business class class hotel chain of affiliates of the Blackstone Group, a private equity investment firm based in New York. Blackstone inherited AmeriSuites from the acquisition of Prime Hospitality in 2004. The AmeriSuites chain was renamed and called Hyatt Place, a competitor for Marriott International's Courtyard by Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn Hilton limited service products.
In December 2005, Hyatt acquired the limited service company Summerfield Suites of Blackstone Group. Blackstone inherited Summerfield Suites from Wyndham International purchase. According to a Hyatt press release, in January 2012 Hyatt Summerfield Suites renamed Hyatt House to compete in an "upmarket extended stay market" against Residence Inn, Homewood Suites and Staybridge Suites.
In August 2009 it was reported that Hyatt Hotels Corporation filed plans to raise up to $ 1.15 billion in initial share sales. In November, Hyatt completed its initial public offering and began trading publicly on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol H. According to Mark S. Hoplamazian's submission is to serve as CEO and Thomas Pritzker as Executive Chairman. The public offering was the result of the fierce rifts of the Pritzker family empire. Hyatt Hotels Corporation operates multiple chains. The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) awarded 100% to the company in the HRC Equality Index for eight consecutive years. The Hyatt Regency brand is the oldest brand in the company, with the Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt brands introduced in 1980. Some of these are laid out as "resort" properties, and may have spas or other recreational facilities. Other brands including Hyatt Place, designed as a limited service offer for business travelers. A long-lived chain, Summerfield Suites, was acquired by Hyatt in 2005, and renamed Hyatt House in January 2012. Hyatt launched your brand in April 2007. The first Andaz hotel is the Great Eastern Hotel in London, followed by hotels in San Diego , West Hollywood, Shanghai and New York City (Andaz Wall Street & Andaz 5th Avenue).
In November 2013, Hyatt introduced their first all-inclusive resort brand, Ziva and Hyatt Zilara. Starting 2015, Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara offer all inclusive accommodation in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, and Rose Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica.
On October 28, 2015, Hyatt announced that it is in advanced talks to acquire Starwood Hotels in the coming weeks in cash and stock transactions. The transaction was not completed, and Starwood was acquired by Marriott International instead.
Hyatt operates a loyalty program called World Of Hyatt, replacing Gold Passport on March 1, 2017.
