The Dodge Charger is a full-size four-door sedan, introduced in February 2005 and built by FCA US LLC, a subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. It is available in the rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Charger was created to continue the Dodge Charger line with legacy muscle car, and replace the Dodge Intrepid as a full-size Dodge sedan. The second generation charger made its debut for the 2011 model year.

Histori
The first filler was the 1964 car exhibit, based on Dodge Polara and equipped with 426 Wedge V8 engines. The first production filler, based on the Dodge Coronet, was introduced as a 1966 model. There are several different vehicles that include Charger nameplate that is built on three different platforms and sizes, all with the Charger nameplate. Although this name is associated with a late 1960s performance model in the Dodge range, it was also used on private luxury coupes during the late 1970s and on a subcompact front-wheel drive hatchback during the 1980s.
In 1999, Dodge introduced the new R/T Charger concept car. It took a lot of styling cues from the 1960s Chargers, sharing a long nose and rear taxi, but shorter in 187 deep (4,750 mm), compared to 203 at (5,156 mm) for the 1966 Charger. It was also lb 650 (295 kg) lighter. It features a four-door sedan body design, while all previous production Chargers have two doors.
It was back to the rear-wheel drive sedan platform that Dodge did not offer since the mid-sized Dodge Diplomat had been discontinued in 1989.

First generation LX (2006-2010)
Both the SXT and R/T models are also available as all-wheel drive starting in 2007. The AWD system comes from Mercedes-Benz 4Matic technology. From 2007 to 2008, the AWD system worked around the clock, draining approximately 60% of the power to the rear wheels and 40% power to the front wheels. The 2009 Charger AWD utilizes a Torque-on-Demand system manufactured by BorgWarner that breaks the front axle until extra traction is required. This results in a slight boost in the fuel economy while retaining the same maximum strength to the front wheels.
After three years of production, an update for the 2009 model was made. This includes moving the "CHARGER" badge from left to right, creating a path for "DODGE" on the left. The tail light is also revised. The 2008 model has seen small revisions on the interior (new center console and switchgear changes).
Machine
Chargers SE and SXT are equipped with Chrysler 3.5 L V6. V6 3.5L produces torque of 250Ã, hp (186Ã,kW) and 250Ã,Ãbb (339Ã,M). In Canada, the basic Charger model has a 2.7L V6, which produces 178 hp (133 kW) and 190 lb of torque? Ft (258Ã,M). In 2006, the 2.7L V6 version is also available in the US only for fleet sales. For 2007, SE packages can be owned with 2.7L engines for all buyers. The Canadian SXT model includes the 3.5L V6.
Version R/T uses 5.7 L (345 cuÃ, in) Hemi V8. From 2006 to 2008, this engine produced a torque of 340Ã, hp (254Ã,kW) and 390Ãbb (ft929M). For 2009, Variable Camshaft Timing was added, increasing the power level up to 368 hp (274 kW) and 395 lb? Ft (536Ã, N? M) of each torque.
Model SRT-8 dilengkapi dengan 6.1̉ L (370̉ ̡ C) Hemi V8. The 6.1L Hemi menghasilkan 425 hp (317 kW) dan 420̉ lb? Ft (569̉ N? M) torsi.
Daytona R/T
2006 Charger Daytona R/T debuted at the Chicago Auto Show. It displays high output 350 (261 kW) versions of 5.7 L (345 cuÃ, in) Hemi as well as updated suspensions and tires. The visual enhancements include a special front fascia with a chin spoiler and a black rear spoiler. In a retro touch, Daytona R/T features black "Hemi" decals on the hood and rear fenders and retro high impact colors. Dodge Charger Model RT Daytona "Top Banana" 2006 (blk & yellow) is a limited edition model with only 4000 cars.
In 2007, 20 inch chrome-plated chrome wheels were introduced. In 2008, the revised stripe package was adopted. In 2009, horsepower was raised to 372 hp (277 kW) with the addition of Variable Camshaft Timing.
SRT-8
The SRT-8 version of Charger debuted at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. Powered by 425 hp (317 kW) version 6.1Ã, L (370Ã, à ° C) Hemi , it also features an upgraded Brembo brake, and interior and exterior updates. The engine produces torque of 420 lbb? Ft (569 NM). The clean 425 horsepower of the modern 6.1L Hemi makes it even more powerful than the legendary Chrysler Hemi engine of the muscle car era, the largest of which is rated at 425 horsepower. This makes the 6.1L Hemi engine the most powerful V8 engine ever used by Chrysler in production vehicles up to that point. The best sprint from 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) is 4.8 seconds (average 5.0).
Super Bee
The newly released Charger Super Bee version of the 2006 New York International Auto Show for the 2007 model. It shares a 6.1Ã-L, 370Ã, cuÃ, in, Hemi, SRT-8 425HP (317WW) engine, but available in special paint "Detonator Yellow" with black decals. This is a limited edition with only 1,000 produced. The Blue B5 version of the Super Bee was shown at the 2007 North American International Automotive Exhibition and went on sale in early 2008, also with a limited number of 1,000. A total of 425 Hemi Orange Super Bees was built in 2009. In 2011, it was announced that Super Bee will return as a 2012 model on the redesigned Dodge Charger with HEMI 392 engine in "Stinger Yellow" and "Pitch Black"
DUB Edition
Created with DUB Magazine, this version is based on the SXT Charger. These include body color spoiler and fog lamps, 20-inch alloy wheels with 245/45R20 tires, MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System with 13-speaker PUNCHER surround-sound system, KICKER 322w booster, KICKER 100w subwoofer, and enhanced brakes from a R/T which uses a double piston caliper in front. Exterior colors are red, black, silver, cold vanilla, and dark titanium.
Total 2,180 cars DUB Edition Charger is produced for the US market. They bring an MSRP of $ 30,999.
Security
The Insurance Agency for Highway Safety gives the Charger a good overall score in the frontal collision test. Side effects Charger models equipped with optional side airbags are scored Marginal overall, and the model without the side airbag is scored as the lowest overall Poor .
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides a five-star Charger on passenger, driver, and crash test rank of four rear passenger and four-star passengers with respect to side impact assessments.
All models come standard with electronic stability program (ESP) (except in car 2.7L V6 where it is optional) with ABS and all speed traction control.
NASCAR
Racing cars based on Charger were campaigned by several NASCAR Sprint Cup teams from 2005 to 2012. Although NASCAR's stock cars have little resemblance to actual street cars, the 2005 Dodge and 2006 Dodge entries are based on the Charger silhouette, replacing earlier Dodge Intrepid. Unlike Intrepid, Charger shares rear-wheel drive and V8 engines with NASCAR partners.
During the 2007 NASCAR season, Chargers are used in all non Car of Tomorrow races and Dodge Avenger is used in all Future Car races. The Car of Tomorrow was used exclusively in 2008. However, the Avenger Car of Tomorrow was redesigned as a R/T Charger through the use of different decals. The Decals have been revised again for 2011-2012 to reflect the updated nose and tail styling of the production Charger, including full width rear panel lights.
Although the car was a success at the Sprint Cup competition, fewer teams have run Dodge since 2007 and beyond. This will cause Dodge and Ram to leave the NASCAR factory support company (Sprint, Nationwide, and Camping World Truck-series) at the end of the 2012 season. For the 2012 NASCAR season, Penske Racing is the only full-time team that puts Dodges (# 2 and # 22 Chargers) at the Sprint Cup, and their # 2 Miller Lite Dodge (driven by Brad Kesolowski) won the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship. Despite winning the Sprint Cup and producing a new version of the NASCAR Charger, Penske Racing turned to Ford for the 2013 season.
LD second generation (2011-present)
The 2011 LD Charger underwent exterior and interior changes, picking up some styling cues from the 1968-1970 model. It features a completely new body with the most striking changes being the redesigned fascia and hood section, a modified "racetrack" vintage style rear lights and a new dashboard. The chrome aluminum wheels become standard equipment on plastic tops.
Powertrain
The new 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine replaces the 2.7L V6 engine as well as the 3.5L High-Output V6 engine. Pentastar 3.6L has a variable valve timing, which is a technology that adjusts the time of the intake and/or exhaust valve. The machine uses a timing chain, not a belt. The flipper manifold is thrown directly into the cylinder head.
It was built with Challenger 2011 SRT8 392 and 300C. The engine is available with 5 speed automatic transmission and 8 speed. By 2015, the 8-spd autos are standard on retail cars. Charger Charger maintains A580 5-spd Heavy Duty.
Update 2012
From the 2012 model year, the 3.6 L engine is available with an 8-speed automatic that improves fuel economy by 4-mpg on the highway. Pentastar V6 3.6 liter produces 292 horsepower (218 kW) and torque 260Ã, lb? Ft (353 NM), 5.7 liter V-8 produces 370 horsepower (276 kW) and 395 l ft (536 NM) of torque, and a new 6.4 liter V-8 produces 470 hp (350 kW) and 470 lb ft (640 N). torque. According to the October 2011 edition of the Motor Trend, the Dodge Charger SRT-8, weighs 4,361 pounds (1,978 kg), sprints from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.3 seconds, and clears a quarter mile (~ 400 m) deep 12.8 seconds at 110 mph (180 km/h). It is mechanically identical to Chrysler 300 SRT-8.
Charger SRT8
The SRT8 Charger returns as a 2012 model, previewed at the Chicago Auto Show 2011. Chrysler starts placing the Dodge logo with a red rectangular in italics on the Charger 2012 model grille.5.
Mopar Charger Edition Design
In 2011 Dodge introduced the Dodge Charger R/T Mopar Designs Edition. In the Mopar Edition, there are some changes in appearance and performance to distinguish it from the rest of the production model that year. The Mopar edition comes only in the "Pitch Black" exterior color with the blue Mopar driver's side strip and the Mopar grille badge instead of the "R/T" badge. The interior is finished in the same black as seen outside except chrome splash and carbon fiber dashboard and center console, along with a carbon fiber shifter handle. The blue line of Mopar is brought to the interior as part of the driver's front seat and the rear seat of the rear passenger side. The performance of the Mopar Edition Charger is enhanced with Super Track Pack, 3.92 final drive gear ratio, 3-mode sport suspension, heavy duty brakes, greater stability bar, and adjustable steering wheel for sports.
Call back
9.688 2011 and 2012 Dodge Charger police vehicles are recalled due to overheating harness connectors causing low beams to fail, and overheating electrical distribution centers can result in loss of braking systems and stability control of vehicle anti-lock.
On May 7, 2012, the recall announcement was made by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding the loss of anti-lock brakes and stability control as a result of overheating fuses on PCD. This failure may result in loss of vehicle control, which increases the risk of accidents. More than 127,350 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Chargers were recalled.
2013 update
2013 NASCAR Dodge Charger
Penske Racing built two Sprint Cup Series racing cars based on the 2013 Dodge Charger appearance, and the cars were launched at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. About the time the car was unveiled, Penske Racing, the only Dodge team in the Sprint Cup announced it would switch to Ford based on race cars for the 2013 season. Although the new cars received reviews positive by automotive press and in track testing, Dodge Motorsports's efforts to get other teams to switch to the new Charger for 2013 are wasted, and Dodge folded NASCAR racing efforts.

facelift 2015
Inaugurated at the 2014 International Automotive Exhibition of New York 2014, Dodge Charger 2015 receives major changes, the most striking changes that come in new front grille and rounded LED headlamps. Maintaining the style of the Dodge Coke bottle claims to have reworked almost every panel in the car; made to look slimmer and more athletic than the previous look while keeping the same dimensions. Dodge is reported to have used the 1969 Charger as his inspiration for remodeling.
The engines include 370 hp (276 kW; 375 PS) Chrysler 5.7 liter Hemi V8 and 292 hp (218, kW, 296 PS) 3.6 liter V6. The V6 model is EPA-rated at 31MPG or 7.6L/100 km which is claimed by the manufacturer to be the best in its class. The only transmission is a Chrysler eight-speed automatic, coupled with an optional all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive system will automatically release the drive to the front axle when not required, providing improved fuel economy. New electronic gears with optional paddle shift provide shift time as small as 0.25 seconds in sports mode.
The reworked interior includes new materials for door panels, consoles and dashboards, steering and new chairs, and various trim packages with leather seats and fabrics. The fresh interior also features a new instrument cluster featuring a 7-inch (180mm) TFT (Thin Film Transistor) screen. Available 8.4 inches of Uconnect touchscreen radio with available navigation has been revised, now including Uconnect Application. Mechanically, the 3.6L Pentastar V6 and 5.7L/6.4L HEMI engines remain the same. All engines are now powered by 8-Speed ââZF 8HPP Transmission Automatic generated jointly by ZF (formerly only V6 models using ZF 8-speed). There is a revised chassis component, including Electric Assist Power Steering, which replaces the previous model Stero-Hydraulic Assist Power Steering. The new aluminum rear differentials now use 4 mounting bolts for stiffness. AWD is no longer available on the 5.7L R/T model.
The Dodge Charger 2015 goes on sale from December 2014 in the US and Canada.
SRT Hellcat Charger
The Dodge Charger 2015 SRT Hellcat was revealed on August 13, 2014 before it was featured on the Woodward Dream Cruise, and was unveiled at the 2014 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show in November, launched by Sandra Bullock, Mizz Nina, Michelle Yeoh and Fan Bingbing. This includes the same 707 hp (527 kW; 717 PS), 650 pound force-feet (880 N m), supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 present in Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The Hellcat Charger features a redesigned front fascia with a larger down grille similar to the current Dodge Viper generation.
Hellcat is claimed to be the fastest four-door factory sedan ever built.
Performance
Charger SRT 392
The SRT 392 Hemi is a 6.4 liter V8 making 485 hp (362 kW, 492 PS) and 475 pound power-foot (644Ã,M) of torque. The SRT 392 Charger also comes with 20 inch wrought aluminum wheels, a 15.4-inch rear brake in front, and a 13.8-inch rear brake rotor.
Charger R/T Scat Pack
The R/T Scat Pack Charger basically replaces the former SRT8 Super Bee in the Charger lineup. Powertrain from SRT 392 is present, such as front and rear bumpers, but leather upholstery is optional (opposite of standard), suspension uses fixed level Bilstein shock, slightly smaller brakes, and the package of wheels and tires is narrower.
2018 changes
ParkView's backward rear camera and parkSense back help are now standard on all models.
Police package version
In early 2006, DaimlerChrysler released a new version of Charger. It debuted at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. Unlike the civilian version, the police version features heavy-duty brake upgrades, heavy duty cooling systems, Police-Performance Electronic Stability Programs, performance-tuned steering police, and gear shifters mounted on the steering column instead of the center console. Instead of the center console, Dodge has equipped the police edition with an aluminum plate suitable for installation of radio equipment, computers and controllers for lamps and sirens. The vehicle's electrical system is designed specifically for the integration of sirens and lamp controls, and other police vehicle accessories. Chargers are being used with many American, Canadian, and Mexican police organizations.
The 340 hp (254 kW) Hemi V8 is powerful enough to accelerate the car from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 6.0 seconds and to a top speed of 152 mph (245 km/h). At Michigan State Police testing, the V8 Charger easily outperforms all other pursuers in acceleration, bend, and braking (except the Dodge Magnum and V6 Charger, which stop a little faster in some tests) in the first five years since it was introduced.
Chargers are used with many police agents in North America both as marked and unmarked patrol cars. Law enforcement agencies outside the United States have also purchased Chargers, including police services in Canada, Mexico, Chile, the Czech Republic and the Middle East, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. Both V6 and V8 models are being adopted, with road patrols supporting the 5.8 L, 345 cuà © in Hemi V8 engines and cities more likely to purchase basic police packages with fuel-efficient 3.5 V6 engines. The charger also works with the US federal government and in its military police services.
For 2009, police cars The base charger comes with a 3.5L V6 and a 5-speed automatic transmission. The back is slightly updated, move the "CHARGER" badge to the right, and replace the left side with a badge that says "DODGE." The V8 version uses the Daytona R/T Charger engine, with 370 horsepower (280 kW) and 395 b ft (536 NM) of torque.
When Charger was redesigned for the 2011 package version the police were renamed to Dodge Charger Pursuit. In mid-2014, All Wheel Drive (with mandatory 5.7 Hemi V8) becomes optional, along with an enormous BR9 brake package. For 2015, Dodge Charger has been refreshed like a regular version.
In 2012, Dodge replaces Ford Crown Victoria as the No. 1 police saloon in North America, with Ford Explorer Interceptor AWD soon becoming the number one police vehicle. In 2017, however, Charger Pursuit and Explorer Interceptor basically share the sales rewards, as the high-performance AWD Charger sales are rapidly increasing.
Production
Dodge Charger is installed at the Brampton plant in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. The LX platform share charger with Chrysler 300, the newer Dodge Challenger fourth generation, and the discontinued Dodge Magnum.
