The door-phone video (also known as video door entry or video intercom) is a standalone intercom system used to manage calls made at entrances to buildings (housing complexes, separate family homes, workplaces, etc.) with access controlled by audiovisual communication between the inside and the outside. The main feature of video door entry is to allow people in the room to identify visitors and, if (and only if) they want to, engage in conversation and/or open the door to allow access to the person who is calling.

Equipment
Video door entry consists of outside and indoor elements: outdoor outdoor panel, electronic lock release and indoor monitor. An outside panel or road panel is installed next to the entrance or gate and combines elements ready for use under any climatic conditions: one or more call buttons (usually one per house or apartment), microcamera adapted for night vision to capture caller pictures, microphones to pick up sounds and speakers to reproduce the sound of the occupants in the room. Video door entry panels may include pushbuttons to call home or office and camera to capture street scenes. Monitor video entry allows residents to see who is calling, talking to visitors and opening the door. Installed indoors, the monitor consists of a screen that shows the picture of the person calling, the microphone and the earpiece for the conversation and the pushbutton to trigger the release of the door lock. The communication settings are full duplex. The electric door release is a device that is installed in a door lock and operated from inside the building to lift the latch and clear the way for visitors.

Common equipment types
There are several variations on this basic format. In addition to outdoor panels with one pushbutton per apartment, it is possible to find others with numeric keypads: in this case, designed for large residential installations, houses identified by code. Others have built-in card holder panels or even small screens to guide users or facilitate entry for people with disabilities. Some video entry monitors have earpieces that are similar to phone handsets, while others are "hands-free". Another example is a monitor with memories that hold the image every time someone calls on the door or a touch screen video entry system.
Video Door Phone Classification (VDP)
Video door phones can be classified into two possible classifications:
1. Security Layer:
A. Level 1 security - This is the security layer added by the VDP system at the community entrance. This layer is given to guards who will instantly verify the entry of visitors to the community. Such a system is only at the community level.
b. Level 2 Security: This is also known as lobby security - This is to gain access to the lobby of your apartment in such cases visitors should contact the flat number and then the owner of the flat allows access to visitors from the door of the lobby itself.
c. Level 3 security: In this case the visitor communicates with an outdoor camera in front of the door of the house or the gate of the villa.
2. Technology & amp; classification:
A. Standalone - Vdp standalone is a device used in the villa or by individual homeowners.
Types of standalone VDP technology -
I. Analog VDP - This is an analog display and a camera.
ii. Digital VDP connected - This is a digital LCD screen with a digital camera usually with image capture and video capture capability when the bell is pressed. In this case usually some additional camera integration is also allowed.
I, I, I. Wireless video door bell (VDB) Ã:: Camera unit connected to the internal or router and allows communication with the top phone or tablet communicating with the visitor.
b. Multi-apartments- This is a solution where there is a mass housing scenario.
I. Analog Multi-Host System - This is an Analog VDP that provides 3 levels of security.
ii. Multi-apartment VDP IP System - This is IP VDP which is a 3 tier security and integration with BMS (building management system), security systems such as interference, CCTV building security and in many cases even Home Automation.
Automatic operation
When a visitor presses one of the outer buttons of the panel, the camera is attached and the picture taken outside appears on the monitor screen. The connection takes place automatically without the need to activate the equipment, which is one of the essential elements of video door entry. At this point, people inside the building can open the door if they want or start a conversation, which is usually confidential (can not be heard by other users of the same facility). The equipment also disconnects automatically after the specified time has elapsed. The overall video entry system runs on low-voltage energy from the trunk of the building
Extra function
Many of the current terminals on the market are ready to accept extensions, making the monitor a small auto-control function center. From here, users can see one or more additional cameras installed in another access point, trigger a light switch or open a second door, etc.
Video door entry system with access control
Video door entry systems are generally found integrated with different access control systems. This means that elements are installed in the same outdoor panel to allow certain previously legitimate users to access the place. The most common ways are proximity cards, fingerprint readers, keypads for secret numbers or even Bluetooth triggered by mobile phones.
Adaptive tools
Different sets of equipment are currently found in the marketplace which makes the use easier for different people with disabilities. So, thinking about vision impairment, outdoor panels can include information in Braille letters beside buttons, or voice synthesizers can also be added that indicate when the door is opened. For people with hearing loss, the outer panel may include a screen with an icon indicating the status of communication: if the user calls, if someone is speaking from the room or opening the door. Also with this type of user in mind, the monitor may be equipped with an inductive loop, an element that interacts with conventional hearing aids to facilitate outside conversation without their presence being noticed by other users. This package also includes a visual or audio call alert.
