Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier is a 2017 video game based on the Planet of the Apes franchise. Taking place between Dawn Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), this game was announced by Andy Serkis during an interview at War . The PlayStation 4 version was released on November 21, 2017, and versions for Xbox One and Microsoft Windows were also planned at that time.

Gameplay
Planet of the Apes: The Last Frontier will pick up storytelling from the movie, aiming to be morally ambiguous, without a hero or a criminal and no black or white decision.
Players will control 14 human players and apes throughout the game, who can live or die based on your decision. Like many decision-making narratives, there will be ends that may depend on what action you take. There are 3 common end to games; apes win, humans win, or peace between them. However, there are some endings in 3 common scenarios depending on the characters being alive and dead, and the general choices being made throughout.
Furthermore, the game seeks to be a closer intersection between games and movies than similar products, such as the Telltale title. It will run between 2-3 hours and the sole player input will be entirely decision-based option. No puzzles, no exploration, or direct control over the characters.

Plot
Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier was specifically set about a year after Dawn of the Planet of the Apes , and centered around an ape splinter faction that had previously followed rebel monkeys, Koba. This faction takes refuge in the Rocky Mountains from a chaotic and still-on-going ape vs human warfare. However, apes soon find themselves forced to descend into the valley belonging to humans as the Winter approach and food begins to thin.
The game follows both apes and humans with monkeys centered around a family of tribal leaders, Khan and his three sons; Bryn, Tola, and Juno. Man is a farmer who lives on the ground in a small village where a city once stood. They follow Jess, the wife of a former city mayor who is now dead.
Development
Andy Serkis mentions in October 2016 that the War for the Ape Planet will be accompanied by a video game, where he made a motion capture. In August 2017, the game has been announced as Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier , which will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in autumn 2017. In mid September 2017 it was announced that the game will have aspects multiplayer where some players can choose the options made.
Reception
On Metacritic, the PlayStation 4 version has a score of 59, which shows "Mixed or average reviews."
