Frontera Grill is a Mexican restaurant in Chicago, Illinois. Owned by Rick Bayless. Opened on 21 March 1987 at 445 N. Clark Street in River North Chicago neighborhood and not chain. In 2011, the Chicago Sun-Times called it "a study in the art of Mexican cooking".
In 1994, Frontera Grill was ranked the third best casual dinner restaurant in the world by the International Herald Tribune . In 2007, Frontera Grill won the "Outstanding Restaurant" award from the James Beard Foundation, marking it as the best restaurant in the US.
