Pacific Coast is a neighborhood in San Diego, bordered by La Jolla to the north, Mission Beach and Mission Bay to the south, Interstate 5 to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Although previously mostly populated by young people, surfers, and students, due to rising property and rental costs, the population gradually became older and more prosperous. "P.B.," as locals know, is home to one of San Diego's more developed nightlife scenes, with bars, restaurants and clothing stores located along Garnet Avenue and Mission Boulevard.

The boardwalk, officially called Ocean Front Walk/Ocean Boulevard, is a pedestrian walkway that runs about 3.2 miles along the coast from the end of St. Lawrence. in the north down to Mission Beach, ending at the mouth of Mission Bay in the south. There are many local shops, bars, hotels and restaurants along the sidewalk, and are generally crowded with pedestrians, cyclists, rollers, and buyers. History

The Pacific Coast was developed during the boom years of 1886-1888 by D. C. Reed, A. G. Gassen, Charles W. Pauley, R. A. Thomas, and O. S. Hubbell. It was Hubbell who "cleared the wheat fields, installed tents, mapped lots, hired auctioneer and started working". To attract people, they built a race track and the San Diego College of Letters, both of which could not survive until today. The train also connects Pacific Beach with downtown San Diego, and then expanded to La Jolla.

Like many Californian cities, the history of its development can be traced back to the completion of the cross-country railroad in the late 1880s. In 1902, many sold between $ 350-700 for a marine property and in 1950, the population of Pacific Beach reached 30,000 and the average house sold for $ 12,000. Nevertheless, a small number of farms remain. Today, the house could sell millions.

The United States Navy operated an anti-aircraft training center in Pacific Beach during World War II. During the 1960s, development continued to increase with city investment in Mission Bay Park, including the development of Iceland, Vacation Village and Hilton Hotels. In 1964 Sea World opened, located just a few miles from Pacific Beach.

The real name of this feature is "Bay Point" and today people may still find the USGS bench mark and its associated RM (DC1025, DC1026 respectively) with that name there. The "Bay Point Formation" is the name of the local rock strata that was first discovered and described there.

Today, Pacific Beach is home to younger people, including students, single professionals, and families. Restaurant culture and nightlife has grown widely, with Garnet Avenue becoming a major center for dining, drinking and shopping, and includes bars, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops.
